Nuage adds new SD-WAN service provider deal

Nuage Networks, the SD-WAN arm of Nokia, has issued a press-release indicating improving momentum for SD-WAN and service providers. This lists another Service Provider win for their technology with Canadian provider TELUS.

TELUS’ Network as a Service (NaaS) uses Nuage’s Virtualized Network Services to allow TELUS business customers to virtually build, manage and optimize networks over the TELUS infrastructure for the cloud.

TELUS joins a list of other service providers that have chosen Nuage to support their SD-WAN environment. These include BT, China Telecom, Exponential-e, NTT Data Intelilink, Telefonica, Telia Finland, AscoTLC, and MyRepublic.

The press release also quotes market-research firm IDC. Once for the percentage of customers willing to use a communication service provider for their SD-WAN (40%). And also with the oft-repeated $6bn SD-WAN market-value in 2020.

“According to market research firm IDC, by the end of 2017 about 70 percent of enterprise customers responding to a global survey said that they will have evaluated or deployed SD-WAN. In addition, over 40 percent of enterprise respondents to a recent IDC survey indicated that they plan to implement integrated SD-WAN solutions obtained from communications service providers. Overall, IDC estimates that the SD-WAN products and services market will be worth more than US$6 billion in 2020” – Press-Release, 19 July 2017, Nuage Networks
